She has grown a lot since coming home from the hospital. Just a note, when she came home 3 months ago she weighed 8.64 lbs. She has gained 5.25 lbs in 3 months! Way to go kid! So far, she is hitting all of the developmental milestones that every other 4 month old should. The nurse kept telling me how adorable she was. While she was measuring her and doing the inital checkup things Kenadi kept doing her little screaming thing (its hilarious, its like shes trying to talk to you but just screams instead), grabbing for the nurse's ring to try and eat it (she loves to stick things in her mouth), and then when the nurse was stretching her Kenadi started laughing so hard. It was great! The doctor mentioned that she is like an "opihi" (I think there was something else to it, but I cant remember). He said that that is a term of endearment that they use in Hawaii that means she is a tight cuddler. He said the opihi are a shell fish thing that cling to rocks in the water. He then explained how if you even cast a shadow on them they cling tighter to the rock so to get them off you have to slowly go from underneat with a knife and slowly pry them off and then you can get them off of the rock. I thought that was kind of a cool story. Anyways, he said that she is hitting allof her developmental milestones! Yay! She hasn't mastered rolling yet over completely yet, but she gets to her side very easily. She also can easily grab her toys and loves playing/chewing on them. Its so fun to watch her grow. Even though Jackson is only 20 months (21 months on the 1st- holy cow he is getting close to being 2!) I had forgotten all the little things that babies learn and the stages they go through. Its so fun! Also, her dr said she can start on baby food at any time we want. He also said that the american pediatrics came out and said that there is no longer a need to wait to start the meats, peanut butter etc unless there are already food allergies. He said that they recommended waiting on them because they thought that early introduction would cause food allergies, but they have found the complete opposite happening and there is a higher rate of food allergies. I was also glad to hear that my drs office participates in the studies for food as well as vaccines. Anyways, back to Kenadi, she is doing FABULOUS and the dr couldnt ask anything more. She will go to the neonatal follow up program in July and be evaulatued by neonatologists and even more specific drs like neurologists and such.
