Hes on the move!

So between scooting backwards (still hasnt figured out forwards but we know hes close because he gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth) and rolling (he has decided it is okay to roll to his back) he is getting into all sorts of trouble. The first picture Andrew laid Jack on his back on our bed while he was putting his shoes on. Jack rolled over and kept scooting backwards into our pillows. The other picture Jack rolled all around and ended up underneath the bassinet! Oh that kid!

Bath pictures

These are from a couple of nights ago. As I was giving Jackson a bath and washing his hair he managed to wiggle to the side of the bathtub silly boy! Doesnt look very comfortable but he was happy!

What a day!

Today after I ran a couple of errands I came home and was changing Jacks diaper. Right as I was about to put the fresh diaper on he starts to pee! He sat there smiling at me and thought it was kind of funny. So after he finishes peeing and leaving my sofa wet I put him in the bath. After the bath I put him on my bed to lotion him up and dress him. Well, right after I move his towel to put his diaper on what does he do? HE PEES! AGAIN!! Oh my goodness! Now I have a wet comforter! I finish getting him dressed and put him in his jumper. I throw my comforter and sofa cover into the wash. I come back to find he had pooped and it had come out of the diaper! All this happened within like 20 minutes! Holy cow! So another change of clothes and we are good! Let me tell you though, that was crazy!
After our pee/poop incident I moved our coffee table and laid blankets on the floor so he could roll around and play while I was folding and putting away laundry. This is what happened. He went from being in the middle of the blankets to being by the door. I guess he wanted to get away.

Graduation Pictures By Emily!

So as we have been talking about in our last couple of posts, my friend Emily did some more family pictures and pictures for graduation. First we went to her Mom's house and did some pictures there, mostly of Jackson but we did some of the family then we went to BYU and took some graduation pictures for Andrew. She is so talented!! Here is a preview of some of the pictures that she did:

Happenings

Well, not to much has happened this past week. Basically I have done lots of laundry, Andrew went to a teacher career fair (turned out very well) and Jackson well he just eats plays and sleeps anyways so nothing changed there.
Yesterday was a teacher career fair at BYU. Andrew went to it and was even offered a job on the spot! How great is that? He should be getting some more job offers after April 1st once the school districts know what positions they have open (that is when the teachers have to say whether or not they are returning). He said that basically every school district he talked to was very interested in him and a couple even said that they want to offer him a job but have to wait. The job offer that he did get was up in Idaho. Idaho=COLD! So we will wait and see what else comes about. We are going up to Portland, Oregon the beginning of April for another teacher fair so we will see what comes about there. We are really excited! Things are looking really good for him getting a job in a place that we would like so thats good!
Jackson started scooting backwards last week or this week. I cant really remember. Anyways, its really funny because he will see a toy that he wants that is in front of him and he starts pushing backwards and gets frustrated because he cant get to his toy. He has definitely mastered going backwards- now just for the forwards part. He also gets into sticky situations when I turn my head for a second. He managed to slide over the bar on his bouncer and get completely underneath it. He got really mad because the wall was there and he couldnt go any further and then ended up hitting his head on the seat. Thats why hes crying in the second picture.

Jackson has also gained enough strength to sit straight up in his bouncer. He has been doing this for awhile but he was sitting up so straight and leaning over teh edge (dont worry I was sitting right there- it was while we were at work) that I had to take pictures. This doesnt even really show how far up he was sitting. He would lean over and grab his toes! I was worried he was going to flip over. I guess we wont be using the bouncer really anymore.
Today Emily- photographer extraordinaire/neighbor/my best friend- took pictures mostly of Jack but some family ones too! They are SO cute but you will have to wait and see! Also, we almost died! Well, we probably wouldnt have died but Mr. Crazy Motorcycle man would have. So heres what happened. We were driving along on State Street in P.G. There is a motorcycle man and he looks like he is on a scooter but as he passes us we realized that he was on a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. He was so goofy looking! He was wearing a goofy helmet and had a red water bottle holder around his waist. Well, we're driving along and he speeds on our right hand side cuts in front of us and hten into the left lane. Then he cuts Andrew off so Andrew honks his horn. They guy FLIPS HIM OFF! Seriously! Well this makes Andrew really mad so he speeds up and gets really agressive (I told Andrew that I am going to make him go to a angry driving management class). Anyways, the motorcycle man keeps goes back into teh left lane so Andrew speeds up and is driving next to him. Andrew throws his hand up into the air just to show Mr. Motorcycle man that he is mad. Well, and mind you, there are other cars around, Mr Motorcycle cuts over and seriously we almost hit him!! It was SO SCARY! I was yelling at Andrew to knock it off. I seriously thought we were all going to die. Here is a picture of him. It doesnt show how goofy he really was looking but now you know who to look out for! Oh I almost forgot! Andrew graduates APRIL 24!! YAY! I am so proud of him!

Back to Normal

Well, that night must have been just a freaky night for Jacks because the past couple of nights have been just fine. Thank goodness. Either that or he realized what happens when his mom does not get sleep and he didnt like it. Who knows. Im just glad hes back to sleeping well.
Today I worked in the morning and Andrew did my check for me so we had time after I got off to go run some errands. While we were at Target we found large receiving blankets!! I like the ones that are AT LEAST 40 x 40. These ones that we found are actually 42" x 42". I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Jack still likes to be wrapped but he is too big for standard receiving blankets. This means I now have 6 large receiving blankets! They are also big enough to lay on the floor to play on. I have been looking for awhile and no one has had any so today was my lucky day! Needless to say, I was very excited (obviously if I am blogging about it)!
Just a side note, tomorrow BYU plays AirForce at 7:00. A very important game because if BYU wins then that guarantees MWC championship (even though depending on how the other teams play they may have to share it) But what else is happening at 7:00? The adult session of our stake conference! Who does that when most of our married STUDENT stake go to BYU? It must be a test of faith. Hmmmmm...

Maybe it wasnt teething?

So, last night Jackson slept perfectly fine! He slept about 8 and a half hours before waking up to eat. So maybe he wasnt teething the night before. I dont know what happened then. Im just glad that last night was not a repeat of the night before. It seems like tonight should be a pretty good night too. I guess only time will tell.

Tell me whats wrong?

Sometimes I just wish Jackson could say, "Mom! Im tired!" or "My gums hurt" or whatever it may be. Last night he went down for bed so easily. I did our normal routine and wrapped him up and laid him down and he fell asleep rather quickly so I thought it was going to be a good night. Two hours later he starts to fuss but then he is able to go back to sleep. Another hour passes and he wakes up screaming and crying bloody murder! I go out there and try to calm him down without picking him up. He calms down and eventually goes back to sleep but it takes a good ten minutes of me (while he is still laying in bed) rubbing his hair and holding his hand and singing to him. Finally I go back to doing whatever I was doing. I fall asleep and wake up to screams of bloody murder again. Now its 11:00. I go out and try to do teh same thing I did earlier to no avail. He was not having it so I had to pick him up. Even after I picked him up he was still crying so what is the deal? I have no clue. I rock him and he finally goes to sleep. I try to lay him down in his bed and he wont have it. I finally give in and decide to just lay him in bed next to me cause I am tired and need to sleep. I figured when Andrew got home from work I would try and put him in his bed. Well I lay him down in his bed just before Andrew gets home and luckily he stays asleep. We slept until about 5ish when he started stirring again. Thankfully Andrew got up and got him. I always wait until he starts crying to get him but Andrew said he was already awake so he figured that he might as well get him. Well, he tried putting him back to sleep but everytime he laid him down he woke up again. Not good. Well, we finally decided that I should nurse him so I do. He goes to sleep and sleeps until 9:30. What was the deal? I think that he may be teething. This morning I could see two little bumps on his lower gums but then when I showed Andrew you couldnt see them so who knows. Hopefully tonight will be a better night because lack of sleep equals a grumpy/emotional Christina- you can just ask Andrew.

5 Months!

Jackson is now 5 months which means he is almost 6 months which means he is half way to being year. I cant believe how fast time flies. Andrew and I have decided he is going to be a little sassy boy (I dont know if you can use the word sassy to describe a boy but I cant think of another word so it will have to do). So Andrew taught Jackson how to take his socks off and Jacks thinks its hilarious. The other day Jackson pulled his sock off and so I looked at him and asked, "Jackson! Did you take your sock off? He tosses his sock, looks at me and starts to laugh." Then yesterday, Andrew was changing his diaper and said, "Jackson, dont roll over." Andrew turns his back and sure enough Jack starts to roll over. Andrew turns around and says, "Jackson, did you roll over?" Jack then rolls back and starts to laugh and cover his face with his hands. Oh that kid. Im pretty sure that we are going to have our hands full once he starts crawling and walking. Which he is getting close to crawling. He lifts himself up with his arms and can get his knees tucked underneath- he just hasnt figured out the coordination of it. Andrew thinks that if he starts crawling around it will make Jack figure out how to do it. His logic behind this is that Jackson gets fussy and wants to stand all the time because he sees us standing.

We have tried giving Jacks rice cereal about 3 weeks ago and he liked it but it didnt sit so well on his stomach (he so has my stomach). Anyways, we will probably try again here pretty soon. Im not in too big of a hurry to rush it because the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends waiting until 6 months if they are a breastfed baby that way the continue to get the full benefits of that. He does sleep 10 hour increments at night without eating so I think thats good. One night he slept 12 straight hours! That was a glorious night! Last night, he took a late nap at 6:00. He woke up at about 7:00. We played a little bit and then I started feeding him. He got really relaxed and so I could tell he was ready for his bed. Pretty much every night he goes to sleep at about 7:30. I laid him down, he rolled to his side so I couldnt wrap him like I usually do and he was out. He slept until 5:00. It was pretty good. He also is getting better at taking his naps- its still a struggle (he thinks he is missing out on something if he goes to sleep) but there is not as much screaming and crying to go to sleep during the day.

He is so much fun lately! We are so happy to have him (most of the time, just kidding all of the time, just sometimes its hard to remember when he is screaming and you cant figure out why). I need to get video of him laughing because it is so contagious. You hear him laugh and cant help but laugh also.

Almost a perfect day...Almost

So today was a pretty good day. When I came home from meeting with Kori about playgroup Andrew had cleaned our bedroom and living room. It was so nice. He even rearranged our bedroom to put a little table in so I can sew on it at night. Whats even better, is today at work Jackson did not cry or fuss while I was closing. Normally 6:00 rolls around and Jack has had it. He will be crying and screaming just wanting me to hold him, but today he slept! Happy day for me! This seriously was a very monumental occassion for me- hence why Im blogging about it. It definitely made me less stressed. The only down fall to today was Jack not wanting to be put down for bed. I dont know what his deal is lately but he does not want to be put down to sleep. He was even holding on to my arm I think in hopes that I wouldnt put him down. After about 45 minutes he finaally laid down for bed. Now I can go to sleep too.

Not so smiley pictures of Jackson

It was brought to my attention that all the pictures we put up of Jack are smiley pictures. So, to prove that he is not always smiling or happy here are a few pictures.

Yes, that is a tear on his cheek. So we had laid Jack on the couch to drink his bottle. When he was done, he let it fall to the side and just laid contently. His belly looks HUGE! Cracks me up!

Valentines Day

So lucky me, I got to work all of Valentines day. Thats alright. It was pretty slow so I was able to work on my nieces blanket. I didnt accomplish as much as I wanted to but I got about half of it done. So that was good. Andrew bought me some beautiful flowers that he brought into the office for me to enjoy. Every time he came over to visit he mentioned how it smelt like a flower shop. After work, we had yummy pizza. Andrew had bought some take and bake pizza from Costco. Neither of us wanted to wait at a super busy restaurant and eat dinner there so we had our dinner at home. Because Andrew can't handle keeping a secret, he had given me my valentines day present on Wednesday. He bought me a beautiful diamond necklace.

I bought Andrew an Ihome alarm clock for his Ipod. He likes more practical gifts. Overall we had a nice relaxing evening. It was great to be able to just spend time together.

Jackson's Semi-Faux-Hawk

So here we got a little bit of gel and decided to play with jackson's hair. We designed a little Fauxhawk (that is the official style according to wikipedia). So fun.

Jackson

Here are some pictures of Jackson from the past couple of days. It was his first time in a high chair and he thought it was great (thanks again Bobbie and Dan for it). He also tried rice cereal and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, his stomach is very sensitive so we need to slowly add it to his diet.

Blanket

I made a blanket for my friend's darling little girl. I was very happy with how it turned out so decided to share. Here are some pictures of it.

I Caught Him Rolling Over!

So we have been trying for the last couple of days to get Jackson rolling over onto his belly. Well we got it on video, and then seconds after he got onto his belly he started rolling back onto his back. So we didnt get it the first 2 times but we then got it on video like the third time. So here i am going to post both videos here so everybody can see what he did.

New Toy for Jackson

We bought Jackson a new toy. A bouncer. He loves it. He is still a little small for it so we have to put a book on the floor so his feet reach.
Oh, I should mention that Jackson has pretty much mastered rolling from his back to his stomach. I keep trying to catch it on video but have not suceeded today. I think he thinks hes pretty hot stuff now that he can do it.

Yay Shes home!

So one of my best friends from college came home from her mission in New York yesterday. I was able to go up and meet her at the airport. It was so great to see her! Here are some pictures

We Did it!

Well, actually Andrew did it while I was gone last night. We have moved Jackson from sleeping in the basinett in our bedroom to sleeping in the playpen in the living room. I think Jackson liked it alright. He was able to move more. When i checked on him a couple of times he was laying on his side and when I got him this morning he was almost completely sideways. I dont know how he does that. I think moving him to the living room was harder for me than it was for him. It meant getting up out of bed into the cold to make sure he is alright rather than just listening for his breathing. But, it was nice this morning when he was making all his noises it wasn't so loud so I could stay in bed a little longer.

Won't take a binky if Im around

So a couple of weeks ago I mentioned to Andrew that Jack won't take a binky. Andrew replies that he will, but you have to hold it in his mouth for him. I assured him that I tried and it didnt work- he just spits it out. So the other day, I come home from work and Andrew says, "Look hes taking a binky." As soon as Jack realizes that Im home he wouldnt take it. He spit it out and wouldnt let it back in his mouth. He obviously wanted something else. Oh that kid...at least he takes a bottle.

Yes, he got his shots

Since Andrew wasnt sure if he got his shots or not, I thought I'd assure you all that he did. After Jack got his shots he was crying (of course) so I picked him up and Andrew offered to take him. I didnt let him. I didnt want Jack to hate me. Well, he was mad at me. We went to Costco afterwards and everytime I looked at him he just stared back at me like, "I cant believe you did that to me!" Major stink eye. Needless to say, he is loving me again.

(By the way, his weight is in the 61% and head circumfrence (16.75 inches) is in the 57%. I should also mention that their way of measuring him isn't the most accurate. They lay him down on the paper and mark a line where his feet are and then a line where is head is so the dr did mention there is room for error there. Plus he is only 4 months he still has plenty of time to grow)

Let me tell you about the appt!

Well the appt went really good at the doctors office...at least from what I watched of it. First, they measured him, then they weighed him. He is 24 inches long, that puts him somewhere in the 46th perecentile...just below average which I am pretty sure he gets from his mom (she is only 5' 2"). He weighed in at 16 lbs, I cant remember what percentile that was, but it was pretty much average. He is growing so much! His reflexes and everything else was right on track, not one developmental concern at least from what the doctor told us.

He also got his shots, at least I think he got his shots. I did hear the screaming and saw the bandaids afterwards on his legs, but I didn't actually watch him get the shots, I did happen to notice some very nice cars driving around outside the window of the doctors office!

What happens when I leave for work?

Jack rolls over! Of course! We have been waiting for weeks for him to finally roll over. He has been able to roll to his side and so we, but Andrew especially, has been trying to teach him what to do with his arm so he can roll over. So today, Jack is lying on his playmat and rolls over to his side and his legs are basically all the way over but not his upper body. Well, I leave for work (next door). About 10 minutes later I get a call from Andrew. Thinking he is just going to ask me if I found the diaper bag (I left it in the office yesterday) I am totally taken off guard when Andrew practically shouts, "He rolled over!!" He was so excited! So I ask for all the details of course- well I needed to make sure that it was a for real roll over and not like him helping him. Well, sure enough Jack had rolled from his back to his stomach all by himself. Now if only he will do it when Im around. I was hoping he would do it after work but he was too tired and too grumpy. Maybe tomorrow.
Other news about Jack, he is sitting up quite well. He can sit by himself for a few seconds and then loses balance. He hates leaning back now and constantly wants to sit up. He also has mastered the art of grabbing at things. No longer can I sit him on my lap at work and actually do work. He grabs all the papers and pens. I think I need longer arms. Luckily when people come into the office, he gets really quite and just stares them down. If he gets a good vibe he may smile- but those dont happen very often (weird stinky people come into the office). tomorrow he has is 4 month appointment. We will see where he is at on the charts. He also has to get more shots. I had accidentally scheduled the appointment during my scheduled shift so Andrew was going to take him alone until he found out he had to get shots. He decided that I better switch shifts and come along with him because he doesnt know if he can handle the shots. Hmm...he may have to leave the room. We will see how that goes.

Uh Oh! Hes starting to get mobile

So for the past couple of weeks, Jack has been moving a lot more. We will lay him down on one side of his play mat and before we know it he is on the complete opposite side. He is still working on rolling over. That darn arm of his always gets in his way which frustrates him. He loves to sit up. He actually prefers to be sitting up whenever possible. Luckily we have one of those bumbo seats (or Bimbo seats as Andrew calls it) so he can sit in that. He will probably be sitting on his own soon, he is getting close. Here are a couple of really cute pictures that Andrew got of him while I was at work yesterday.

Jacksons First BYU Basketball Game!

As You can see in the picture, Jackson couldn't keep his eyes off the basketball players. This was taken during their warmups, which is why there arent so many people behind us yet. Jackson lasted until the first big slam dunk and the crowd went wild and he started screaming hysterically. He was really tired and there was a lot of loud noises. We didnt make it past the first 10 minutes of the first half before we left for home, but thats alright, at least he was there...right? (and we had the game recording at home :)

Such a cute boy!

So tonight while Andrew was home for his lunch break (at 8:00 pm) Jackson was lying on the couch in between us. He was in a goofy mood so I started tickling him. He started laughing so hard! He then rolled onto his side toward my leg and started scratching at my leg and foot (i had my right leg tucked underneath my left so my foot was close to him when he rolled over). As he was "tickling" me, he would mimic the sound that I make when I say "tickle tickle tickle." We went back and forth tickling eachother a couple of times. We were all laughing so hard. It was seriously the cutest thing ever. So fun!
